"Unity" – Katimarie Morse
Although this structure is now mostly surrounded by staff parking, it still remains a vital and visible part of the Mesa College campus. I propose a change of scene to this structure, which is lacking in zest. Through this art project, inspirations of the importance of unity and bonding will take place. It is crucial for teachers and students to be united. Both have goals: one to teach and the other to learn. Unity acts as an agent for both. It creates a positive environment in which others desire to be around. The mural I am proposing will be a constant reminder to work together, regardless of ethnicity or any other differences that may be present.
Art is powerful. It can easily be used to promote a variety of ideas. In this case, my inspirations came from the brilliant mind of artist, John Baldessari. He is known as a conceptual artist who was not afraid to take a new approach. In his work, "READ/WRITE/THINK/DREAM," he collaborated everyday items, such as books and colors, and composed a mural that would encourage students to go "beyond the day-to-day grind" and "envision new worlds".

Your message and proposal are truly needed. Loved the placement of your art work. Would it have taken away from your piece if you covered the entire space?
