About Me

Public Art Proposal
San Diego, California, United States
The online Digital Imaging class at San Diego Mesa College created this blog to present their proposals for public art pieces to be installed on the Mesa College campus. They were told to imagine that the college had a 100,000.00 art budget set aside for the beautification of their campus. First the students were asked to research by studying the UCSD’s Stuart Collection, http://stuartcollection.ucsd.edu/StuartCollection/index.htm. They also studied the work of: Barry Megee and Margaret Kilgallen, Mel Chin, Maya Lin, Jenny Holzer, Tim Hawkinson, Mark Dion and Krzysztof Wodiczko in the KPBS series: Art in the 21st Century, http://www.pbs.org/art21/. Once they completed their research they photographed possible sights on campus. Photoshop CS5 was used to construct their proposals. During this process they learned about site-specific art. They also learned to create and upload web graphics with an artful eye.
